Manufacturer: Buescher
Key: Bb
Used
Bore: .460"
Bell: 4 5/8", Shepherd’s Crook
Finish: Silver Plate
Case: With Original Case and Mouthpiece
Condition: Up to 70% original condition. Wear from use apparent and visible in addition to signs of damage or repair. The outer legs of the 3rd valve slide have been replaced, patches have been added to the Main Tuning Slide, and there are small dents/scratches on the instrument. Silver plate is mostly intact, other than a few points of wear, and the raw nickel 3rd valve slide.
A real piece of history, this horn was made in 1906, just a few years after the fire in the Elkhart plant which burned up all prior records. Though it’s not in 100% original condition, it is in surprisingly great shape considering it’s age. The valves run predictably and seal well very well, so they are likely to have been redone at some time or another. There are a few design concepts used on this horn that makes it stand out from most modern cornets. It features a three-pronged valve guide system, and a unique layout of the valve ports. The tubing is routed with two curves in the main tuning slide, the top of which likely used to set the instrument in the key of A.
